How to make a good pistol? Here are the Top Five G19 upgrades that have been successful (and easy):
Improving Your Glock For Under $100 Part Ii: Connectors, Sights And Magpul Magwell!
As much as I like Glocks, I don't like the plastic ones. Polymer systems are great, but it's hard to rely on polymer vision. My first upgrade was a new type of metal sight and right now, my current favorite is an Ameriglo front sight and a Vickers rear battle sight. This combination creates a pistol with an all black rear sight and high night vision. Contrast makes quick work of catching your eye and getting to the point.
Glocks are very popular, there are options available everywhere. Popular models include the Trijicon Fiber Sights, Ameriglo I Dots, and the Tru Glo model. They are reliable, simple and well made. If I were to upgrade a Glock 19 it would be a new sight.
The factory Glock trigger isn't bad, but it's not great either - a solid 'meh' in my book. The good news is that anyone can do this easily with a simple exchange for a quality trigger. The Apex Tactical trigger is designed to refine the Glock trigger by softening and improving the trigger pull.
A tactical action that doesn't compromise the Glock Safe Action design or provide too much light. The Apex Tactical trigger pushes the Glock 19 to its full potential, allowing you to fire faster and more accurately.

Carrying a big 'ole honkin' gun like a Glock 19 is like a boat anchor in a car. Although they have different goals, they do not work together. The Griffin Armament Micro Compensator is different. It is more important hair than thread protector but it offers a lot of discount and discount.
Installation is easy and complete with a 16mm wrench. This small compensator is aimed at defensive weapons and minimizes the size and length as much as possible. The performance rate per ounce is very high, and you should be surprised at the importance of this simple addition. It requires a threaded barrel, but get one because it's an upgrade you won't regret!
The Streamlight TLR 7 is one of the first lights designed for compact guns with additional rails like the Glock 19. The light is similar to the design of the Glock 19 and resists adding too much weight. the compact pistol. This is probably the easiest Glock 19 upgrade you can do.
The TLR-7 delivers 500 lumens of light which is more than most weapon mounted lights. This powerful light is the perfect tool for anyone, especially those whose Glock 19 does double duty as a home defense tool. Don't forget to make sure you have a good holster to accommodate light weapons too!

Magpul makes a great range of magwells for the Glock series pistols and an easy upgrade is the GL Enhanced Magwell. This simple Glock 19 upgrade makes the magwell more funnel-like, resulting in a smoother and faster reload.
Magwells are popular in gun competitions and are often large, which is good for competition but not for concealed carry. The Magpul Enhanced Magwell is a useful little upgrade that doesn't add much to the gun and allows for faster reloads.
These are improvements you can easily make at home and while this is not an exhaustive list, it is a good start. If you want to make a bigger change, contact a professional gunsmith to learn about your options for milling, stippling, undercuts, and more.
Always remember that with every new improvement, you should also add more training to make sure that your shots keep up with the changes. Have you tried any of these upgrades on your Glock 19 or other handguns? What's your favorite new addition or update?

About seven years later we are introduced to the next generation of the Glock lineup. The differences in Gen 5 are similar on the surface, but there are interesting changes that are not immediately apparent.
I have been using the Gen 5 Glock 19 since late August and have put about 4,000 rounds through it since then. I ran for static accuracy and in active defense exercises to avoid hiding, with lights attached to the rails. I also spent time with it, encountering internal modifications and parts replacement issues (because Glocks are great hobby kits).

Basically, the Gen 5 Glock 19 is just a Glock 19, but with some interesting and odd changes that warrant an examination. There are also caveats that buyers should be aware of. I hope to cover most of them here, but remember that these reviews are from using less than 2 months, several times a week. More time can tell more stories.
Most of this review will talk about Gen 5 differences from previous versions and specific issues for Gen-5 users (carrying, shooting, accessories, etc...). For a more basic review of the Glock 19 I encourage you to read my Glock 19 Gen 4 review here ("Review: Glock 19 Gen 4 - After 80,000 rounds").
Also note that the pictures shown in this article do not show factory new pistols. These are pictures of pistols of people who use them hard several days a week. They are easily beaten.
The first and best reason to consider this pistol is because it is a Glock 19; arguably the best weapon ever made. It is large enough to be a duty weapon and offers great accuracy and magazine capacity but is small and light for everyday concealed carry.
Glock 19 Gen 4
In addition, the excellent record of reliability offered by Glock pistols cannot be ignored. From my own experience I have shot over 100,000 Glock Gen 3 and Gen 4 pistols and the only failures I have ever seen were due to the failure of Glock replacement parts and the Cerakote dere job. With stock parts, Glock pistols are nearly flawless in function, even under extreme conditions.
For Gen 5, you may want to consider the new Glock 19 for two reasons. First, the lock lever is now double sided. So if you're left-handed, change the mag-release to right-handed and you have a perfect left-handed pistol. For those who like Glock pistols, but not the finger grips, the Gen 5 comes with a flat head strap on the grip. No need for repair.
The Gen 5 brings a little bit that is new to the shooting experience, with 2 unique cases. The Glock 19 is a compact, easy-to-carry pistol with consistent accuracy that exceeds 99.9% of the shooter's ability. The novelty of this experience is brought by the new Gen 5 barrel and the flat belt on the grip.
After shooting a lot with Gen 3 and 4 Glocks, I found the lack of finger grip to be remarkable. I was used to the bouquet filling my strong hands and now it felt different. I don't see the difference as bad, but because the fingers fit my hand well and I miss them on this pistol. I know a lot of people don't like them, so many will be happy with this change.
